The Dorr Parks CommisDorr skate park 8-3-15sion unanimously voted Monday night to proceed with ordering the obstacles to sit on newly poured concrete for the skate park.

There will be nine major pieces featuring quarter pipes, bank ramp, grind rails, grind boxes, a large 33-foot center set, and new, since the earlier plan the two quarter pipes on the west end will now be connected to make a long half pipe.

While the order is likely to go into manufacturing this week, the shipping date is not set. To get the price down, Dorr will participate in a community build under one of American Ramp’s installers.

Dorr Township Treasurer Jim Martin said, “(It’s) Not going to be before school starts, but kids should be flying in September.”

The approved quote from American Ramp Company totals just over $52,000 if local people do some of the install work. This is well below the $67,000 the Township Board approved last week for the project.
