The Dorr Township Planning Commission Tuesday evening gave the green light to construction supply distributor by approving a site plan request for a parcel to the immediate east of the Copart business.
Work is expected to get under way at the Core & Main company, manufacturer of specialized distributor of water, wastewater, storm drainage and fire protection products. The 20-acre location is along 12th Street near its intersection with 142nd Avenue east of the U.S.-131 expressway.
A representative from Excel Engineering explained plans to construct a 12,000-square-foot building on 12th Street. The project will include the installation of sewer service, drainage improvements and paving of about a quarter mile of 12th Street.
The 20 acres will be carved up into two five-acre sites and another of 10 acres.
Plans call for five employees on site and adding two more soon afterward.
The commission vote 6-0 to approve the site plan, with Chairman Bob Wagner absent for the second month in a row. Acting Chairman Dan Beute said Wagner, who has been chairman of the planning commission for 44 years, is dealing with health issues and has been hospitalized.
