The Citizens’ Road Committee earlier this month has decided to make 16^th Street reconstruction and paving the next local road project. in 2021.

Township Treasurer Jim Martin, a member of the group, indicated the street will starting getting work done next year, from 142^nd Avenue to the south to 140^th in the first year and from 140^th south to 138^th in the second year.

The committee’s projects for this year, with estimated total costs of $870,000, have included:

• Paving 22^ndStreet between 142^ndAvenue and 146^th Avenue, at a cost of an estimated $450,000.
• Repaving 24^thStreet south of 142^ndAvenue, two miles, with costs being shared with Salem Township, $155,000.
• Chip seal for 140^thAvenue eight-tenths of a mile west of 18^thStreet, $22,000.
• Repaving Walnut and Park streets, $40,000.
• Repaving 138^thAvenue east and west of 18^thStreet, $170,000.

The Citizens’ Road Committee was established five years ago and Carolyn Sandel was made chairwoman. Since then a request for three mills was approved, and it was renewed earlier this month in the primary election.
