Dorr Township Treasurer Jim Martin is being honored this year as a “Friend of Basketball” by the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan, one of about a dozen to receive the recognition.

Martin is being acknowledged for his role as a statistician and scorekeeper for Grand Rapids Catholic Central High School for many years. Martin also has been a a coach for GRCC at the lower grade levels and one worked with Wayland High School alum Lacey James.

“I knew about this for the past 15 months… but I finally got the official letter saying I was going to join the Hall of Honor as a Friend of Basketball,” he said.”But I still didn’t have who else was being inducted. I finally found the announcement and program which is part of the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan Clinic weekend at Oakland University (in October).”

Martin has been treasurer for Dorr Township for more than three years.
