Dorr Township Treasurer Myrna Marr has resigned her position.
Marr, who was elected in November 2020 after serving before then as deputy treasurer to Jim Martin, did not give a reason for her abrupt stepping down.
However, it has been no secret there has been a lot of tension and vitriol between her and Trustees Chandler Stanton and John Tuinstra and Clerk Debbie Sewers. Stanton called her out publicly last year after he discovered a discrepancy of a little more than $8,000 in the budget expenditures. There has been no finding of wrongdoing.
Township Supervisor Jeff Miling said the search for her successor will begin immediately and he urged anyone qualified to submit an application to the board, which next meets Thursday, Jan. 27.
Clerk Debbie Sewers said the township is expected to accept her resignation formally at the Jan. 27 meeting.
She stressed that this is an elected position, so the person selecteds must file in April as well to be on the August primary and November general election ballot.
Repeated attempts to reach Ms. Marr for comment were not successful.

Has this case been closed? What was the finding? I thought MSP was still investigating. If I remember correctly United Bank refunded around $4,000.00 where did the rest of the money go?

Apparently the Michigan State Police might say there was “wrong doing” by someone, thus case number 52-3595-21.
The $8,000 was allegedly stolen from Dorr Townships bank account and used for online gambling. But I think you may know this already.
