Dorr Twp. approves dust control, work on 144th Avenue

The Dorr Township Board Thursday evening voted to spend $679,000 to rebuild 144th Avenue with road millage funds and to spend $10,125 for each application of dust control this summer.

A special Road Committe, led by Chairwoman Carolyn Sandel, recommended 144th Avenue for the first round of local road improvements after passage last August of a three-mill levy to repair and pave roads in the township. The Allegan County Road Commission is slated to do the reconstruction work.

Dust control once again will be handled by Bruce Allyn of Byron Center, probably for two applications, but a third will be applied if necessary.

Approval also was given for 4.3 miles of gravel work, with emphasis on 16th Street.

In other business at the meeting Thursday evening, Ernie Gills and Allegan County Commissioner Mark DeYoung unanimously were reappointed to four-year terms on the Dorr Downtown Development Authority.
