A special night for suicide prevention is being planned by the Dorr Township Fire Department.

“We care care deeply about our community, and that extends beyond fire safety,” said Fire Chief Gary Fordham. “Unfortunately, many of our community members have been affected by suicide in some capacity.

“We want to continuously strive to make sure that those in need have access to resources that are available to them. We at DTFD believe that every member of the community is valued.”

The Dorr Township Fire Department covers 36 square miles in northern Allegan County. It is staffed by 29 paid-on-call firefighters who all call Dorr home. Dorr Fire responds to all injury car accidents, house fires, wild fires, downed power lines, and as mutual aid to neighboring fire departments.
