The process of updating the master plan for Dorr Township began in earnest Tuesday evening for the Planning Commission.
Nathan Mehmed, representing the Williams & Works firm, presented commissioners with suggested on-line survey questions to get residents’ opinions. He also indicated he will join the commission for six meetings, including a visioning session or open house, perhaps as early as January.
After perusing the proposed questions, Commission Vice Chairman Robert Traxler said, “There’s some awfully good data in here. It’s good stuff.”
Traxler said the information also could be used for township communications.
“If the people fill this out in good numbers, we should get some pretty good feedback.”
Chairman Robert Wagner commented, “As far as I’m concerned, it’s ready to go.”
The surveys will be available at a web site and it will be available in hard copy at the township hall, the township library and the information will be posted on the sign at the corner of 18th Street and 142nd Avenue.
The township hired Williams and Works earlier this year to lead the master plan update process, which hasn’t happened since 2007.
In another matter, at the behest of Commissioner Terri Rios, members will seek an additional $15 per meeting in compensation during the period in which they will be working on the master plan.
