The Dorr Township Planning Commission had virtually no trouble approving three requests Tuesday evening.

Commissioners recommended approval of a request from Mr. And Mrs. Richard Snyder to rezone a parcel at 2014 144th Ave. from agricultural to rural estates.

“We just want to join the two (adjacent) parcels together,” Mrs. Snyder explained. “We’re going to keep farming it.”

Commissioners noted the request fit in well with the township’s master plan and didn’t even need to do the customary spot zoning check.

The same was true for rezoning 4400 144th Ave. to commercial and mixed use planned unit development. Zoning Administrator Lori Castello acknowledged that plans for the property could be wildly variable, but it appears the idea is to make way for industrial use.

“At this time we don’t know what that use could be,” she told the commission. However she outlined that among the non-permitted uses would be for something like a soccer field, an adult entertainment business or salvage yard.

Once again, the proposed rezoning fit in with the master plan, so recommendation was swift.

The third request was for site plan review for Tool & Die Inc. inside the industrial park on Commerce Drive.

The developer said the proposal is to extend the property line and establish a second addition.

The Planning Commission had no trouble approving the site plan.

The recommendations likely will be taken up by the Township Board at its March 23 meeting.
