The Dorr Township Planning Commission Tuesday evening approved a site plan for an addition at DPE Ventures, 4678 Division, just north of LKQ.
The company, which manufactures new and used computer room flooring, wants to build a 9,480- square-foot addition and add four trees to the landscape of the site, which is zoned industrial.
Claiming the project will result in “an attractive and useful addition to the community, engineer Eric Young from Nederveld said it will include an expanded stormwater management area.
Jason Derry from Professional Code Inspections (PCI) commented, “This (site plan proposal) is about as straightforward as anything that’s ever come to me.”
The site was approved on a 6-0 vote.
In other business at Tuesday’s meeting, the commission:
- Noted the third consecutive absence of Chairman Bob Wagner, who has indicated he is dealing with health issues and at one time was hospitalized. Wagner has been on the commission for 48 years and has been chairman since 1979.
- Scheduled a public hearing for Tuesday, Nov. 21, on a proposed ordinance regulating solar power devices in the township.
- Had a review and discussion about a proposed mining ordinance. Commissioners examined ordinances adopted by neighboring municipalities Watson, Salem, Leighton, Wayland and Monterey townships. Derry declared that at Watson, “They probably see more mining operations than anybody in the county.”
