A traffic crash west of Wayland on 135th Avenue Friday evening killed the driver of a truck, authorities have said.
The truck left the road and fell into a ditch on 135th east of 18th Street in Hopkins Township, finally striking a tree. The driver was ejected in the crash, but a passenger was alive and talking when emergency personnel arrived at the scene.
AeroMed was on standby, but later waived off because the driver was deceased and the passenger could be handled by personnel from Wayland Area Emergency Services.
Police closed 135th Avenue between 16th and 18th streets.
