Author Tobin Buhk, a teacher at Forest Hills Central Middle School, will present “Michigan’s Most Dangerous Women” at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, at the Leighton Township Library.
He will talk about his latest book, “Wicked Women of Detroit,” and about some of the most dangerous female offenders in Michigan history, based in part on another of his books, “Wicked Women of Michigan,” and an article in Michigan History magazine called “Women in the Big House.”
Featured in the presentation will be angry housewives who turned to arsenic to get rid of troublesome husbands, unstable mothers and women who took out insurance policies on their husbands and then orchestrated violent accidents for them. Buhk will talk about the Old Detroit House of Corrections, Michigan’s only penal institution for felonious females of the past.
