The 11th annual Community Expo will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at Wayland Union Middle School, 701 Wildcat Drive.

Activities will include the Taste of Wayland food court, live music, a Grocery Guess game, animal shows and vendor bingo.

Educational presentations with tortoises, lizards, snakes, frogs, toads and small alligators will be offered at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. The jazz band Mood Swings will perform from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Jay L. Smith, longtime owner of Smith Lumber & Coal, will display historic Wayland photos and local state, city, and county emergency service personnel will be on hand in the parking lot. Area business representatives will be available to talk about their companies and answer questions.

Free paper shredding services for up to 25 pounds will be offered and there will be free canvas bags and other giveaways. Grand Rapids Griffins hockey team mascot Griff will be on the scene between 11:30 a.m. and noon.
