Martin Fire & Rescue Chief Kurt Knight has announced that it is canceling its Halloween open house this year. The Leighton Township Fire Department also has announced it will not have its usual Halloween activities.
“With the current situation surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic we feel this is just not an option to host a large gathering and serve food as we have in the past,” Knight said. “We look forward to returning next year.”
The Leighton FD posted on Facebook, “Friends of the Leighton community, due to the unfortunate events of 2020 also known as Covid-19, we will not be participating in Halloween events this year. Our stations will be closed and we will not be out in the community with trucks. Keeping within Allegan EOC, CDC, and MDHHS guidelines, we feel this is best.”
