A special program about human traffickWomen at Risk INTLing will be offered at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 14, at the United Church of Wayland, 411 E. Superior St.

Women At Risk International, which works in more than 43 countries, including the United States, creating havens of safety and healing for at-risk women and children, will be responsible for the presentation.

“Please come and join us to better understand what human trafficking is all about, a spokesperson for Women at Risk INTL said. “Michigan is the second largest state in the union for trafficking and last year 2400 young people were put into slavery just in the Grand Rapids area. It is astonishing that so few people know the danger of our babies, toddlers, young children, teenagers and young adults. Because of the I-94 expressway and our Great Lakes, they can be transported quickly out of the country.”

There will be refreshments and items to buy, made by the victims. The money from the sale helps to fund recovery.
