This year’s Relay for Life has been moved from Wayland to the Hopkins High School track, starting at 6 p.m. Friday, July 24, running continuously through noon the next day.
The main volunteer-driven fund-raising event for the American Cancer Society, the relay raises money for cancer research, to spread awareness, celebrate the lives of survivors and remember those who have lost their lives.
The Friday opening ceremony will be a survivor celebration lap, followed by dinner. A silent auction, a “Fight Back” ceremony, luminaria ceremony and balloon release, dance party, glow football and scavenger hunt also are planned.
There will be a survivor pampering session at 9 a.m. Saturday and local hero celebration and a closing ceremony at noon.
The event is free. For more information visit www.relayforlife.org/waylandmi or call Maile Whipple at (269) 349-8719.
