‘The Founding’ folk band to play at Balloonfest

A Hot Air Balloon Festival is planned for Saturday, Sept. 11, at Calkins Field (Wayland Municipal Airport) just north of Wayland along 10^th Street.

Special guest musical performers “The Founding,” featuring Wayland High School orchestra instructor Kyle Pitcher, will perform between 4 and 5 p.m., just before the balloon launches.

This one day event will consist of a five-kilometer (5K) race, kids’ carnival, car show, vendor event, and balloon flights and a balloon glow.

There will be food trucks and a meet and greet with the pilots as well.

The 5K run will get under way at 9 a.m. that Saturday, gates will open at 11 a.m. and balloon activities are scheduled for 6 p.m.
