Martin’s new football field is ready for the season opener.

The Wayland Hopkins and Martin High School football teams will make their varsity debuts at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, at their home fields.

It will be a particularly special occasion for Martin, which will unveil its new football stadium that was was built by taxpayers’ approval of a bond issue two years ago. The Clippers will entertain Climax-Scotts in the season opener, which also will be the first game for new head coach Brad Blauvelt.

Wayland will be at home against Kenowa Hills and Hopkins will be host to Ravenna, both also non-conference contests.
