Yankee Springs fire station open house is June 25

An open house for the new Yankee Springs Township Fire Department station at 1425 South Payne Lake Road be held from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 25.

Guests will be able to tour the fire station, go through the “Scotty,” the Fire Safety House and spray water from a fire truck hose. Fire trucks, a fire rescue boat, utility terrain vehicle, brush fire trucks, ambulance, police cars and a DNR vehicle also will be on display.

Fire safety and prevention information information will be available and hot dogs and other refreshments will be served.

The fire station has been staffed by Wayland department members after Yankee Springs Township asked to affiliate with the City of Wayland and Wayland Township . Wayland Deputy Fire Chief Dan Miller commands the post.
