Ex-Wayland schools transportation supervisor Stan Jansen dies

4020287_300x300_1Stanley James Jansen, age 90, of Dorr, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, following a brief illness.

He was the owner of Stan’s Body Shop in Dorr for many years. Later he was the Transportation Supervisor for Wayland Union School retiring from there in 1986. He was known as “Stan the Man” to all the students who rode on the buses.

He is survived by his wife and best friend Evelyn of 47 years. Also his children Joan and James Slopsema, Jerry and Vicki Jansen, Larry and Laurel Jansen, Ron and Mary Jansen, Stan Jr. and Sharon Jansen, Steve and Kathie Jansen, Ted and Joni Wustman, Robert and Trudi Reurink, Tim Wustman and special friend Lynn Van Velsen, Tammy and Rick Radke. Very special niece, Elaine Jansen of Texas, thirty-two grandchildren, sixty-four great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.

His son, James Allyn (Jimmy), his parents, Nicholas and Sophie, his brother and sister in law, Nicholas and Esther preceded him in death.

As to his wishes cremation has taken place. A family visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at the American Legion Post 127, 4310 18th St. Dorr.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Laurels of Sandy Creek, Wayland or Wings of Hope Hospice.
