Former WaPresley Hudson 2-6yland High School basketball standout Presley Hudson had a sizzling debut this weekend for Central Michigan University.

Hudson, an all-state player for Wayland and runner-up in last year’s Miss Basketball competition, scored 21 points in the Chippewas’ 85-65 victory over Indiana State. It was a terrific start for CMU, which lost five seniors from last year to graduation and is relying heavily on freshmen and sophomores.

Hudson wasted very little time in her debut, swishing one of her famous three-point bombs with the contest only eight second old. Coach Sue Guevera said she forgets Hudson is only a freshman, but the ex-Wildcat standout comes from a hoops family with father Mike, Wayland’s varsity basketball coach, and brothers Wes and Avery, point guard standouts as Wildcats. Wes also was an NAIA basketball All-American.

Hudson scored more than 1,000 points in her career at Wayland and she was a starter on the varsity for all four years.
