Fire at empty house blocks traffic on East Superior St.

Local authorities have reported a fire at an abandoned house on East Superior Street Wednesday morning caused the street to be blocked off between Steeby Elementary and Main Street. The house was believed to be on the south side of Superior, across the street from Steeby and the United Church of Wayland. There were no reports of injuries. The scene was cleared just before 8 a.m. Wednesday.

  1. Funny I just seen a Wayland police officer there Monday afternoon, was he looking for something or some one, or was this house being used for hangouts like the one on Clark Street.

    That is the best thing for Wayland!, not sure why the City manager has not done something with that house for a long time!! He wants to get rid of blight but just sits in his office! Just like not plowing the sidewalks and not getting outside bids for it and no credit on our taxes , he doesn’t care about the citizens of Wayland!! That house has been empty for years and kids have been going in and out for a long time!! Something should have been done with that house years ago!!

    House not abandoned,owned by my friend Jason who moved to Kazoo for college. TRANSIENTS in and out of there. Personally think it was set on fire by homeless or careless teens,but seems to be no investigation going on,damn shame
