A fire Thursday morning heavily damaged Giuseppe’s Pizza business near the four corners in downtown Wayland.
Authorities were summoned to the scene at about 6:30 when a local police officer called it in from his cruiser passing by. It apparently had started in the back of the building.
Fire departments from Wayland, Hopkins and Leighton worked together to put the fire out quickly and were able tpo contain the serious damage to one building.
Giuseppe’s Pizza probably will not be able to reopen, according to sources close to the situation, because the owner was renting the building for the business.
The fire also damaged the neighboring tax accounting business and Reno Insurance, but it is expected both of them will be back in business Monday.
