Fired Dorr Twp. deputy Sewers to run for clerk in August

Dorr Township DeDebbie SewersBrian Boot2puty Clerk Debbie Sewers has been fired from her job by her immediate superior, Clerk Brian Boot.

The clerk acknowledged the development while in his office Tuesday night, but declined to give a reason.

Sewers, who now lists her occupation on her Facebook site as “Former Dorr Township Deputy Clerk,” was appointed in November 2013, succeeding Christine Schwartz, who was fired after less than a year under Boot. Though there have been attempts to contact her via Facebook, she has not responded.

Several sources familiar with the situation indicated Sewers intends to run for clerk against Boot in the August primary election. She did so in 2012, losing in the election but a year later was appointed deputy clerk.

Several area colleagues have said Sewers learned a great deal about elections during her two and a half years on the job and they said she was an asset.
