First snowstorm of 2018-19 winter dumps 7.7 inches

The first snowstorm of the 2018-19 winter season Sunday night and Monday morning dumped 7.7 inches of the white stuff on this area, according to local weather enthusiast Bob Zapolnik of Hopkins. All area schools were closed for the day and motorists faced challenges in customary activities such as going to work. WOOD-TV Channel 8 reported U.S.-131 southbound lane near 100th Street was closed because a semi-trailer had jackknifed. Quote of the day: “Good morning! West Michigan is closed due to snow. Adults you still get to work.” (Photos courtesy of Bob Zapolnik and DK Chrisman)
