At least five local high school graduates are listed on college football rosters in Michigan this fall.
Three of the five are affiliated with schools in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) while the other two are on the roster at Northwood University in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Association (GLIAC).
Sophomore Matt Modreske, a graduate of Hopkins High School, is listed as a sophomore offensive lineman for Northwood. He is listed at 6-8 and 338 pounds.
Fellow Hopkins grad Jalen Kisner, is listed as a red-shirted freshman who recently suffered an injury. Kisner will be a defensive lineman for the Timberwolves.
Former Wayland High School standout Quentin Sweeney and Hopkins grad Nick Caywood are teammates at Kalamazoo College. Sweeney is a sophomore linebacker, who last year tied for third on the team in defensive sacks. Caywood also is a sophomore defensive linebacker for the Hornets.
Another WHS grad planning to play some football in the college ranks is running back Mike Miklusicak, a sophomore at Hope College.
