WHS Girls DefNearly all of the seniors on the Wayland girls’ varsity basketball team this past winter will be team members or alternates in the annual “Champions of Character” all-star basketball games at Davenport University Wednesday, June 15.

The roster, announced Friday, included Ali Cutler, who will play at Cornerstone University next season; Hope Dollarhide, Lawrence Tech University, and Karli Warning, Grand Rapids Community College.

Ali Martus and Sydney Ritz both are listed as alternates, mostly because Martus intends to play golf at  Northwood University and Ritz will play volleyball at Spring Arbor University.

Other well-known O-K Gold Conference players such as Maddie Dailey of Hastings, Jenn DeBoer and Markayla Vander of South Christian and Joanne Torres of Catholic Central will be among the players.

Kim Legge of South Christian will be the head coach.

Jake Sapp, the 6-7 Hopkins pivot player, also is listed as an alternate in the boys’ game.
