All members of the Hopkins chapter of the FFA received gold awards at last week’s district leadership contest, thereby earning the right to compete at the regional level later this month.

Advisor and agriculture educator Jessica Couch said, “Myself and all of the coaches couldn’t be prouder of how hard these kids have worked!”

The results, according to categories and places were:

  • CreedSpeaking — First place, Mary Wells; second place, Caleb Tucker.
  • Junior High Speaking — First place, Bailey Couch; second place, Maddie Bockheim.
  • Greenhand Speaking — First place, Katrina Tucker; second place, Valerie Nagengast.
  • Job Interview — First place, Lexie Wilson.
  • Demonstration: First place team (Jordyn Burch, Samantha Modreske and Rachel Velderman).
  • Ag Issues — First place team (MaKenna Davies,
    Megan Heft, Laura Velderman, Kaelyn Pepper and Madison Ellis.
  • Junior High Conduct of Meetings — First place team (Olivia Coffey, Olivia Hightower, Lindsey Taylor,Sara Velderman, Haylie Kiraly, Ashton Dorman, Tyler Moored and Adam Ortman.
