Former Burnips restaurant owner Jackie Moomey dies

Jacqueline June Moomey, 95 of Burnips, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, at Diana’s Care LL in Otsego.

Born Feb. 26, 1925, in Crystal, Mich., she was the daughter of the late Chauncey and Kathryn (West) Parker and the wife of the late David Dale “Bart” Moomey.

Before settling down to be a wife and homemaker, Jackie worked in a factory and then went on to own and operate a local restaurant in Burnips. She took great pride in providing wonderful meals for her family and always having a well-kept home.

As a parent and grandmother, she could be stern when required, but always showed love and compassion to her daughter and grandsons.

Many precious memories have been accumulated throughout Jackie’s 95 years. Her spunky personality provided for a lifetime of cherished moments and unforgettable family time.

Jackie is survived by her daughter, Sandra Temple; her three grandsons, David Vogt, Brady Vogt and Anthony “Tony” Temple; and one great-grandson, David Vogt, Jr.

Along with her parents, Chauncey and Kathryn, and her husband of 70 years, Bart, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Anthony Temple.

Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and she will be laid to rest with her husband, Bart, in Salem Township Cemetery.
