Former Gun Lake Casino employee Jordan Lewis Cook, 26, has been sentenced to four months in jail for stealing an estimated $84,564 from “cash out” machines over14 months.

Cook also was ordered to pay restitution for cash he stole from the machines on the floor of the casino.

Federal judge Mark Totten Wednesday also ordered Cook to serve two years on supervised release after his jail term. Cook could have faced a maximum of five years in prison, but he had no other criminal history.

His job at the casino included handling money and clearing out money jams from machines. Authorities charged that he used a card key to open the machine and remove crinkled or misfed bills.

Cook was accused of stealing money on 32 separate occasions and then deposited it into his Lake Michigan Credit Union account later using it to buy a Chevrolet pickup truck.
