Former Hilliards resident Robert “Bob” Dandrow died Wednesday, Sept. 25, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa, Fla. He was 75.

Bob was born on Aug. 11, 1949, in Grand Rapids, to Isabel and Earl Dandrow.

Bob grew up on a farm in Hilliards with his brother, Tom, and sisters Pam, Kathy and Mary. He served in the Navy, receiving an honorable discharge in 1969 and earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Aquinas College.

Bob was recognized by family, friends and colleagues as a humble and kind family man who kept his word. He was the life of the party, widely known for making people laugh. You could always find him fixing or making things with his hands. Bob loved music and could cut a rug with the best of them.

He enjoyed grilling and taking his family for boat rides and was a fan of Notre Dame football – enjoying several tailgates, no matter if they won or lost. His ever-present sense of humor and solid presence will be missed.

Bob is survived by his wife, Christine, and their children, Christopher, Amy, Deb and Brandon, grandchildren Abby, Ethan, Isabella, Aubrey, Keegan, Brady, Sofia and Samantha.

A small, private burial ceremony will be held at the Bushnell Military Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society.
