A longtime Hopkins businessman and public servant, William D. Punches of Gun Lake, died Monday, Oct. 19, at his home. He was 75.
Born Nov. 2, 1939, in Plainwell, he was the son of Dwight and Hazel (Hosler) Punches. He graduated from Central Michigan University and married Marge Shubel at the University on April 9, 1963.
William was an active lifetime member of Hopkins United Methodist Church and also spent 19 years as Hopkins Township Supervisor. With his brother, Ken, he owned and operated Punches Meats in Hopkins for more than 25 years.
William enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. He lived and played at Gun Lake for 25 years.
William is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marge; three children: John and Michelle Punches, Carrie and Dan Knobloch, Katie and Rob McInnis; seven grandchildren: David, Abby, Lizzie, Will, Ben, Alex and Emmie; a niece, Anita and nephew, Brian.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Ken.
Friends may meet with the family at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, until the service at 11 at Hopkins United Methodist Church, Pastor Dominic Tommy officiating.
