Irvin B. Morris, 90, of Hopkins, died Saturday, Dec. 30, in Allegan.
Mr. Morris was a lifelong resident of Hopkins and served on the Hopkins Village Council. His dedication to his hometown was always evident as he worked on the Hopkins Planning Commission, was instrumental in putting in sewer systems and spent a great deal of time keeping the trees in town trimmed. Irvin, who attended Hopkins High School, not only served his community well, but also his country in both the U.S. Army and Navy.
In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling and playing golf.
Irvin is survived by his grandchildren, Scott, Brian (Laurie), and Elisabeth; great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Benjamin; former daughter-in-law, Sandy Morris; daughter-in-law, Jodi Morris; step-grandchildren, Kayla Houseman and Samantha Brisbin; step-great-grandson, Hudson; his brother, Lewis Morris; his step-daughters, Diane Schmidt, Debra Cardoff and Dawn and Rick Keyes; and his dear friends, Mary Pant, Greg and Dawn Buist, and Bob Chachulski.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara, and his second wife, Lynn; his son, Dennis Brian Morris; and his brothers, Richard and James (Mary).
Friends may meet with the family from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, at Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel, where the funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Hopkins Township.
Memorial donations may be made in Irvin’s name to Hospice of Holland (270 Hoover Blvd., Holland, MI 49423).
