Arlene Joyce Oetman, age 76, of Wayland, died Sunday, Nov. 20.
Mrs. Oetman, who formerly was treasurer of Leighton Township, was a lifelong member of the Wayland Christian Refoimed Church and was an active member of the Red Hat Society and Ladies Extension Club.
She loved spending time with her grandkids as well as singing and playing the piano. Arlene was a lifelong member at Wayland Christian Reformed Church,.
She is survived by her children: Donna Oetman, Beverly (the late Kevin) Post, Steve (Rayanna) Oetman, and John (Shari) Oetman; 10 loved grandchildren: Brooklyn Oetman, Matt and Kelly (Post) Hirdes, Kyle and Marcia Post, Calvin and Kendra (Post) VanOpstall, and Kurtis Post, Samantha and Justin Oetman, Tim, Nathan and Tyler Oetman and two great-grandchildren Kevin and Aubrey Joyce Hirdes; her brother Don (Holly) Vander Woude along with many extended relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry, on Aug. 31, 2015.
The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, at the Wayland Christian Reformed Church, 303 East Elm St., and from noon until 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church where services will be held at 1:30 with Pastor Jerry Zandstra officiating. Interment will be at Hooker Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Arlene’s name to Wayland Christian Reformed Church Building Fund or Moline Christian School Foundation Fund.
Arlene was a dedicated public servant for many, many years. Thank you for your service and may your family be comforted by God’s words of everlasting life.
