Former Martin Township Supervisor Terry Sturgis dies at 67

Terry SturgisFormer Martin Township Supervisor Terry Sturgis died of pancreatic cancer Sunday, Sept. 13,  at his home in Martin.

Terry was born on May 9, 1948, to Ted and Alice Sturgis. As a Vietnam veteran, he served his country proudly.

Terry was a member of the Patriot Guard Riders and served as Martin Township Supervisor for 15 years. He had played drums in bands since the 1960s, enjoyed his race car and wintering in Florida with his family.

A funeral service was held at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Terry’s family includes his wife of 47 years, Marcia; their children: Jarrod Sturgis (fiancé Tami Brown), Jill (James) Harris and Joe (Jessi) Sturgis; nine grandchildren: Matalyn (Dylan) Rowe, William, Abigail, Amanda, Taegan, Torryn, Chloe, Riley and Justin; one great grandchild, Vera; Tami Brown’s two children: Taylor and Morgan; one sister Sandy, as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Vicki Sturgis and granddaughter Ilah Ann Sturgis.
