James A. “Jim” Hendriksma, age 72, died Tuesday, Nov. 16.
Jim enjoyed traveling with his wife, watching his grandchildren’s activities, spending time with friends at Fremont Lake Park, golfing, and bowling. He was an active member at Moline Christian Reformed Church and served six years in the Michigan Air National Guard.
Jim established New Image Remodeling and ran the business until he turned it over to capable hands and retired in 2017.
He is lovingly survived by his wife of 50 years, Marilyn; children, Kevin (Bridget) Hendriksma, Jodi (Daryl) Oetman, Vicki (Brian) Veersma; grandchildren, Brandon, Ryan, and Rachel Oetman, Kaylee and Seth Veersma; brothers and sisters, Kathy (Dave) Brummel, Ed (Carol) Mouw, Lois (Larry) Cavender, Ellen (Doug) VanArtsen; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Fran Overweg, Judy (Gary) DeHaan, Marilyn Grasman, Dave (Bonnie) Grasman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Annetta Hendriksma; granddaughter, Alexis Veersma; brother, Harlan Overweg; and brother-in-law, Ron Grasman.
The family will greet visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th St., Cutlerville, and prior to the service at Moline Christian Reformed Church, 4341 Chappel St., Moline, MI 49335, from noon to 1 PM. The funeral will held at 1 p.m., with Rev. John Ouwinga officiating. Interment will be in Hooker Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Jim may be made to Moline Christian School or South Christian High School.
