Former State Rep. candidate to run for drain commissioner

Mark Ludwig

Mark Ludwig, a Fennville area farmer who unsuccessfully challenged incumbent State Rep. Mary Whiteford in the 80th District in 2018, is now setting his sights on the post of Allegan County Drain Commissioner.

Such a move is not unprecedented, as former 72nd District State Rep. Ken Yonker won election as Kent County Drain Commissioner after being term limited.

Ludwig, a Democrat, is a farmer and a substitute teacher in colder weather when farming is slower. He is known in agricultural circles as an advocate for the Green New Deal.

The incumbent drain commi9ssioner is Denise Medemar, a Republican.
