Former Wayland Superintendent Dr. Christina Hinds, Northview’s current deputy superintendent, will step in as interim in the wake of the retirement of Scott Korpak.
Korpak announced this week that he is stepping down after 30 years in education, the last eight as the head of the Northview district.
“The decision to leave has evoked a range of emotions within me,” he said. “However, I am genuinely pleased by the board’s ongoing process of appointing Dr. Christina Hinds as the interim superintendent. Having previously served in this capacity in January and February of this year, she demonstrated exceptional skills and leadership.”
Dr. Hinds was superintendent at Wayland from July 2020 to July 2022, when she left to take the deputy superintendent’s post at Northview. She and her husband, Kevin, and son, Andrew, have continued to live in the Wayland district, but now plan to move to Grand Rapids.
Calvin Hinds, the other son, has been very active in the local music scene, playing gigs at many venues.
Dr. Hinds came to Wayland from Mattawan, where she served as assistant superintendent.
