Former WAEMS employee Mary Rolfe, 71, of Dorr dies

Mary Sue Rolfe (Lago), 71, of Dorr, died Friday, March 1, at Trillium Woods.

Mary loved volunteering in her grand-children’s schools and participated whenever the opportunity presented itself. Prior to her focus on volunteering, she worked for 15 years at Pine Rest Christian Hospital’s Older Adult unit as a mental health worker. Her desire to help people and her love of learning also led her to work as an EMT for the Wayland Ambulance Service for several years.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Richard Rolfe, her children Christine Estefan, and David (Giovanna) Estefan; four grandchildren: Peter Estefan, Patrick Estefan, Joey Biesbrock and Jacob Biesbrock.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Laura Lago (Barnes), and her sister, Laura Lago.

Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Redeemer Parish (2700 Baldwin St., Jenison). The funeral will be officiated by Fr. Don Weber. Friends may visit with family at Cook Funeral Home (4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville), from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 3, as well as one hour prior to the service Monday.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Hand-2-Hand Ministries, the Blanchard Nature Center, or the Allegan County Animal Shelter.
