Former Wayland man’s work creations banned on Facebook

Former Waymichael-wilsonland man Michael Wilson is getting a lot of backlash from Facebook for posting photos of his creations at work.

Wilson, who attended elementary schools in Wayland, works for RealDoll, and its offshoot, RealGurl, a California-based company that produces prosthetic breasts and shorts for transgender women and breast cancer survivors who have undergone mastectomies. The problem has been that Wilson has been posting photos of the products on Facebook, and they have been removed for being “offensive.”

Wilson, in a video, has said he won’t stop posting photos, despite being aware it could lead to him being banned entirely. He has insisted the pieces he creates are lifelike, but not pornographic. He insists he is providing a service for a certain segment of the population.

“I won’t stop because it’s not real. And even if it was, so what? I mean, we all have these parts of the anatomy or have at least seen them before,” he said in his video. “We are all humans. Our anatomy is a big part of that. We shouldn’t be ashamed of it.

“I also believe that the communities to which our company caters to are already disenfranchised enough. What some of customers go through during transitions is no joke. By posting photographs on social media it’s a small way to help people realize that these transitions they go through are not something that needs to be hidden, and that I at the very least support them.

“I’m so tired of society being afraid of sexuality. In all of its forms. As a country we used to be innovative rebels, now we are frightened conservative sheep. If posting pictures of faux anatomy helps break us free even in the smallest amount, I think that it’s worth it.

“Not to mention, what we do here is art. Every one of my team members are trained artists. We take pride in our work. We just work in medium of nude form. And artists have for a long time been demonized for their work. But, that doesn’t make it right.”
