Word has been received of the recent death of Vernon Becker of Middleville. He was 88.
Mr. Becker was an industrial; arts teacher at Wayland High School during the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. He taught drafting and wood shop.
It was reported he will be laid to rest at 1 p.m. Monday at Robbins Cemetery, Water Lily Ln, Wayland (just off Chief Noonday Road)
He also taught a section of world history to underclassmen straight outta the book in his shop class in 95. RIP Mr. Becker, you were a good one.
I’ve thought of Mr. Becker over the last 45 years when doing Wood working. I cherished a pair of unique pliers with his vehicles, I worked on in Mr. Jackson’s class, engraved on them.
RIP Mr. Becker!
