The four are Dorr and Pine Street elementaries and Wayland Union Middle School and Wayland Union High School.
In order to be eligible for this honor, schools are assessed on two different aspects and must fall within the top 40% of Michigan public schools. The first criteria is students’ proficiency in mathematics and reading through state assessments, and the second is the socioeconomic demographics.

Dorr Elementary was ranked 49th and Pine Street Elementary was 243rd out of 2,633 Michigan elementary schools. Wayland Union Middle School was ranked 349th out of 1,998 Michigan middle schools. Wayland Union High School w 119th in Michigan and 3,537th nationally out of 17,656 high schools.
