Four Wayland High School student-athletes are members of the Byron Center varsity hockey team this winter.

They are senior forward Mike Anderson, junior forward/defenseman Mitchell Nagel, sophomore forward Logan Clairmont and sophomore forward Rory Myers.

The Bulldogs’ varsity also includes players from Grand Rapids South Christian in a cooperative arrangement. Hockey is an expensive sport and it often involves schools combining to form one team, much like swimming.

Byron Center has put together a 9-6 overall record for the season and it is 7-2 in its league. Chuck Hofbauer is the coach. The Bulldogs skate home matches at the Southside Ice Arena in on 100th Street in Byron Center.

Clairmont has four goals and two assists thus far. Nagel has six goals and three assists. Myers has five goals and 11 assists. Anderson has recorded six goals and two assists.
