A distribution of free food for the needy will be conducted Friday, Sept. 18, beginning at 4:30 p.m. at the United Church of Wayland parking lot at 411 E. Superior St.
The distribution, sponsored by Wayland Area Ministries, will include enough food to feed roughly 100 families for three to four days. The types of food available will be fresh fruits and vegetables, milk, yogurt and other dairy products, breads and other baked goods.
Wayland Area Ministries is a joint effort of a group of religious and charitable organizations in the local community — St. Therese of Lisieux Roman Catholic Church, United Church of Wayland, Wayland Area Christian Neighbors Food Pantry, Inc., Sts. Cyril & Methodius, the Wayland Christian Reformed Church and the Wayland United Methodist Church.
The food is provided by Feeding America of West Michigan.
