Freshman distance running sensation Veyda Conley now owns two school records.
Conley, who last fall astonished nearly everybody by turning in times under 20 minutes in the 5,000-meter cross country race, Friday night broke the school record in the 3200-meter run with a time of 12:09.9. The clocking was 18 seconds faster than the recored set in 2000.
A 24-year old school record has been shattered at the Kent City Elite Invitational. Conley finished sixth in the 3200-meter race and was the highest placing freshman in the race.
Conley also earned a medal in the 1600-meter race placing 10th in 5:39.23, in the elite division, featuring only the best runners.
The invitational included 25 teams, many of them Division 2 and 3 while Martin is Division 4.
The Lady Clippers as a team also performed well in distance events. They took fifth place in the 3200-meter relay with Sara Schipper, Emily King, Tory Harris, Veyda Conley in 19:43.44, only half second away from fourth.

• Gavin Meyers, 17th in 300-meter hurdles, 45.51 seconds, with 42 in the field.
• Braxton Mathis 30th, Elliot Long 31st in the shot put, with 61 competitors.
• Taegan Harris tied for seventh in the high jump among 42 jumpers, 5-6.
• Seth Toris, 46th in the long jump.
