The Martin golf team had a good week in the links, winning its own jamboree with a school record score of 143 for nine holes at Mullenhurst.
The Clippers won by five strokes over conference leading Kalamazoo Christian. Freshman sensation Jason Marshall carded a two-under-par 33.
Also making huge contributions were Capt. Grady Matteson, who was one under par, and Tyler Howland, who tied for eighth individually in a seven-team field. Gabe Smo (Jr) also shot his career best of a 40 for nine holes, including a birdie on the tough par 4 seventh hole.
Martin earned a tight victory in Parchment’s Coaches and Kids abbreviated scramble format where the team scrambles and on nine holes the coaches play their own shots. Martin was able to squeak out a one stroke victory capping off three victories in a row.
