Roger Allen Rosema, age 87, of Gun Lake, died Saturday, Nov.19.
Roger was a devoted and loving husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa. He was a faithful member of Gun Lake Community Church and Faith Presbyterian Church of Cape Coral, Fla. Roger loved music, singing and attending the GR Symphony, as well as numerous concerts and programs of his family.
He enjoyed happy times with family and friends at his home on Gun Lake, as well as fishing and boating. Roger and wife Fran loved to travel and enjoyed many winters in Cape Coral together.
Integrity was the trademark of his 40-year career in sales at Williams Furniture. He was honored with an award for “Salesperson of the Year” in 1991 for the greater Grand Rapids area. Roger also proudly served as Staff Sergeant in the Army Reserves.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Frances; children, Gwen and Scott Bolthouse, daughter-in-law, Shelly Rosema; grandchildren, Connor and Bethany Bolthouse, Alex and Emily Bolthouse, Lara and Matthew Brower, Stephanie and Caleb Rutkowski; four great-grandchildren; brother, Melvin Rosema; brothers-in-law, Harold and Jan Gelderloos, Glenn and Nancy Gelderloos.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Thys and Agnes (Poel) Rosema; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Richard Kladder, sister-in-law, Perle Rosema; parents-in-law, Harold and Kathryn Gelderloos, sister-in-law, Mary Gelderloos, and his son, Douglas Rosema.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. A memorial service will immediately follow at 2 pm with Pastor Mark Veldt officiating. A private burial service will take place at Grandville Cemetery.
