Funeral for Agnes Lenhart will be July 8 at St. Mary’s Church

Agnes Veronica Lenhart, age 93, of Byron Center, died Saturday, June 8.

The daughter of John and Nora Rewa, she was born on Oct. 5, 1925. Her hardworking spirit was fortified in her German-American roots. She was a devout, lifelong member of St. Mary’s Visitation Parish.

She married Arnold Lenhart on May 5, 1945. Together they raised six children and ran a dairy farm for 32 years until Arnold’s death.

Agnes married Norman Lenhart on May 25, 1979, joining their families and sharing a love of travel. Her faith carried her through the losses of both her husbands and her infant daughter. She fostered a love of reading, sharing books with family and friends. Agnes was renowned for her thoughtfully handwritten letters and she was an avid baker and talented quilter.

She is survived by her sister, Florence Squire, as well as her many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 8, at St. Mary’s Visitation Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary’s Visitation School.
