Robert Allen Stauffer, 77, of Martin, died Saturday, March 2, in Mobile, Ala.
Bob was born on April 15, 1946, to Beverly and Clara Stauffer in Grand Rapids. He was raised there with his five siblings, Denny, Patti, Gordy, Jan and Mark. After Bob graduated from Union High School in 1964, he went on to join the United States Navy, where he served as a Radarman Second Class E-5 until his honorable discharge in 1967.
He and his wife, Becky, were married Feb. 17, 1968, and they had 56 blessed years together, raising three daughters Renee, Robyn and Roxanne.
Bob was strong willed and stubborn, but he also had an enormous heart and sense of humor. He was clever and full to the brim with knowledge gained through his life experiences.
He is survived by his wife, Becky; children, Renee and Ben Lyon, Robyn and Mike Heintz, and Roxanne and Dave Cook; grandchildren, Mycah and Kyle Heemstra, Zoya and Jake Devine, Audrey Heintz, Cale Lyon, Lilly Lyon, Britny and Austin Stump, Carter (USAF), Natalie, and Jensen and Ruby Cook; and his great grandchildren, Harrison and Leopold Devine, Ryder and Evelyn Heemstra, and Ethan, Addy, and AJ Stump.
He is also survived by his siblings, Denny and Sandy Stauffer, Patti and Chris VanDyke, Jan and Bob Becker, and Mark and Cheryl Stauffer.
He was preceded in death by his father, Beverly; his brother, Gordy who died in Vietnam serving his country; his stepfather, Tom; his mother, Clara; and his in-laws, Paul and Lillian Burkey.
A funeral will be held at Martin Reformed Church, 1073 W. Allegan St., Friday, March 22. Gathering will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the service at 11:30. There will be a luncheon immediately following.
