Funeral Friday for devout Catholic Elaine Kovac

Elaine Evelyn Kovac (nee Kuhtic), age 91 of Wayland, died Saturday, Jan. 13.

Elaine was born and raised on her family’s farm in Wayland and she attended Wayland schools. She was a devout Catholic and longtime member of St. Therese Catholic Church. Elaine loved her church and held many different positions including organist, cantor, choir member, children’s choir director and religious ed. teacher.

More than anything, she loved to spend time with her family and was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her daughters, Laure Parliament (Larry Kubiak), Catherine (Shannon) Keefer, and Mary (Mike Iciek) Kovac-Iciek; by her grandchildren Kyle (Caitlin) Parliament, Tayler Keeler (Felix Robles), Tessa Clink (Jonathan), Tanner Keefer, Jackson (Samantha) Iciek, Grant Iciek, Scott (Angela) Kubiak, Hillary Kubiak (Seb Dobry); great-grandchildren Liam, Kohen, Kade, Daxton, Brooks, Bella, Braxton, Aria and Isla.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Kovac Jr.; daughter, JoAnne; and baby girl.

The funeral mass celebrating Elaine’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at St. Therese Catholic Church, 128 Cedar St. Wayland. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Therese Catholic Church with the Rosary from 4 to 4:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Therese Choir or to Wings of Hope Hospice.
